Design approach

Concept

The book is about conflict, contact and Buddhist mindfulness — an abstract subject that most covers in the category solve with calm stock imagery. This one does the opposite: two tigers meeting in water, caught mid-movement, lit by a low sun.

Typography and palette

The palette is held to black, deep amber and gold so the image feels heated rather than violent. The title is set in a classical serif in three stacked lines, with the subtitle in the same family at a smaller size, which gives the cover the weight the subject needs without shouting.

Back cover

The back carries long German copy, so it is set as one measured column with a clear opening statement in gold, an author note below a hairline, and reserved space for the publisher mark and barcode.
